Originally established on September 11, 1995, the Manav Kalyan Yojana was restructured in 2022 to broaden its scope and effectiveness. Administered by the Commissioner of Cottage and Rural Industries, the scheme is now pivotal in supporting 28 types of employment through financial assistance and provision of essential tools and equipment.
The primary goal of the Manav Kalyan Yojana is to facilitate the economic progression and upliftment of backward classes and impoverished communities. To be eligible for the scheme, applicants must:
- Be native residents of Gujarat.
- Be between the ages of 16 and 60.
- Be listed on the Rural Development Department’s BPL list.
- Scheduled Castes have no annual income limit set for eligibility.
